As a lecturer in occupational therapy, I have taught across programmes, supporting the development of both pre-registration and post-registration learners.
I am passionate, not only about supporting students to become occupational therapists, but specifically to develop their ability to be effective evidence informed practitioners. At present, my teaching focuses on modules which sit within postgraduate programmes, supporting practitioners from a range of health disciplines to advance their practice through masters level learning.
This is reflected in both the modules I teach and my research activities which have explored engagement between researchers and practice in healthcare settings and the CPD culture within occupational therapy in relation to research use. I combine my research passion with my interest in using social media for professional development as a member of the Twitter OTalk Research team.
My PhD research focussed on the concept of Researcher Practitioner Engagement, specifically, development of a conceptual model to guide the engagement of healthcare practitioners in the development of research derived knowledge. Publications relating to m research can be found via my Researchgate profile.
